Are You A Part Of A High-Value Creating Team?
Did you know that 89% of customers believe a purpose-driven company will deliver the highest quality products and services? And that purpose-led companies outperformed the S&P 500 by 10 times between 1996 and 2011.
A high-performing team suggests it’s a place of arrival. Whereas a high-value creating team constantly strives to add impact and create value for all its stakeholders in alignment with its purpose.
Answer the following questions with YES or NO…
Does your team have a clear purpose, one that you co-created together?
Do you and your team know who and what your work serves?
Do you have an understanding of what your internal and external stakeholders need from the team now and in the future? Do you talk about it?
Does the team discuss and deliver what can be achieved by collaborating together versus by working apart in parallel?
Can you define the patterns and behaviours that hinder or encourage your collective team performance?
Are you learning as a team together in order to be ready for challenges that are coming over the horizon?
Does the team know how to collectively address the challenges of today, and are they ready to address challenges into the future?
If you answered YES to less than 7 of the above questions, chances are you need to have different team conversations. For example, you may be clear on your roles, responsibilities and delivering great work. However, you may be in reactionary mode all the time and wondering how the team can be more strategic in its approach. You may be forgetting to address the needs of all your stakeholders—those inside and outside the organization. That 13th fairy you forgot to invite to the party!
If you answer NO to the first 3 questions, it might help to know what statistics say about organizations and teams that have a co-developed, clearly defined purpose.
Perhaps the most important one of all is that people are 1.4X more engaged, 1.7X more satisfied, and 3X more likely to stay with a company with a strong purpose.
